David L. Jones
Known in international vocal pedagogical circles, David L. Jones studied at Texas Christian University and later attended the University of North Texas for graduate research. After having searched for Old World vocal training for several years, it was indeed fortunate that in 1979 he found the renowned vocal pedagogue Alan R. Lindquest, himself a proponent of the Swedish/Italian School of Singing.
David Jones has voice studios in New York, and San Francisco in the United States and is guest faculty in London, Paris, Geneva, Berlin, and Salzburg. He has also taught at the prestigious Glyndebourne Opera Festival in Lewes, England and has trained singers performing in such renowned opera houses as the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, San Diego Opera, Sydney Opera, Vienna Staatsoper, Berlin Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, La Scala, Glyndbourne Summer Opera Festival, Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, Zurick Opera, L’Opera Bastilles, and many other smaller regional opera houses throughout Europe and the United States. He has also trained singers who have performed in major concert halls throughout the U.S. and Europe, including Avery Fischer Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie Hall in Berlin, and Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall in London.
David Jones has been published both by Classical Singer Magazine and the European NATS Journal and is presently writing his technical book on the Swedish/Italian School, which reflects the concepts of the training of Kirsten Flagstad and Jussi Bjoerling training, among many others.
